    looking for moving advice

I have read Calguns stickies and the rifle flowchart etc ad nauseum, in preparation for my upcoming move to Kali, but I want to check here just to check my work, if you fellas can help please. Here is what I have from my research :

    My guns :
9mm SC PX4 storm. It is illegal with it's factory 15 rd magazine, so I am just going to leave the magazines behind and not use it. From what I am reading, transporting handguns into the state is exempt from the handgun list, is that correct?

Mossberg 930 semi auto shotty-legal in cali I believe with no changes needed.
Mossberg 590 pump shotty-legal I believe with no changes needed.

S&W M&P 15 - I don't see this model in the lists of banned rifles. So I believe all I need to do is install a bullet button and I am done? No mention of the flash suppressor or collapsible stock or whatever to make it illegal. it has the legal 16" barrel and is not <30" with stock collapsed. I just don't have any 10 rd mags. I guess I will need to pick some up. It's sad that I can't even use my 20 rders lol...

AMD-15 AK47-same as the AR, except it is a side folder so I need to pin the stock, which is really easy with this rifle. Also, I will get a bullet button for this rifle. anything else?

I don't think I missed anything. I am leaving all of my magazines out of state, will keep my guns locked in the trunk of my car when i drive to Kali, and ammo seperate, probably in the UHaul.

    Thanks for the help!

thanks all for the welcome. I was hoping I could secure my firearms mostly in my hometown, and only bring the shotty for HD, but nowhere that I feel safe keeping them.

Is the rosters you're referring to, the list of banned gun models? I don't think any of mine are on those lists, and the handgun brought into state is exempt according to the FAQ here. I just can't bring in the mags. I won't bother getting the blocks for my mags, I'll just leave them with family in my old free state. I don't see myself being in Kali for more than a year, when I'll be returning to the land of the free haha...

oh and also I guess I also need to register the guns all at once for a $19 fee right?

otherwise, good to go once I install bullet buttons and pin the AK's stock?

The banned by name/ assault weapons list (and are usually referred to as such here) are the Roberti-Roos/Kasler lists.

I am also pretty sure none of those guns listed are banned by name (only one I'm not 100% on is the AK, but... I'm just not an AK guy )

"The Roster" refers to the CA Roster of Certified Handguns, which just restricts what we can buy new from FFL. Doesn't apply to used transactions (PPT, cosignments), nor does it on possession of "off roster" handguns.

Totally legal to own, including import as a new resident.

So sounds like (aside from the AK exceptions you listed; correct btw) have your bases covered already.

            Welcome to CGN

it's done. AR has a bullet button installed, my deadly handgun magazines over 10 rounds and every AR magazine is in my storage unit in NV(hey now I have a 1 shooter handgun lol), AK has the "bullet button" and stock locked after 34 cents of lock washers from home depot. see pic for neutered AK and pic of Cali compliant AR lower. is it ok to keep the original mag release hardware in there? they're not illegal unless you have them installed anyways right? I just don't want to lose the pieces :

Welcome to California! And to Calguns.

Just an FYI, no one who actually lives in California calls it "Cali". Only people from other states do that. Or maybe rappers. I just call it 'heaven'.

The territory around San Francisco Bay is called "The Bay Area". San Francisco is called "The City", not "SanFran" or "Frisco". (Some people around San Diego call their area "the bay area", but they're wrong...). The Lake Tahoe neighborhood is just called "Tahoe", or sometimes "North Lake" or "South Lake" if you're trying to be specific. People will know you're not talking about some other lake. Once you've seen Tahoe, all other lakes seem like mud puddles...

                    Anyway, I digress. Welcome, again.

                            Welcome,

No worries I've spent my entire life living in the greater Bay Area and I've always called Ca, Cali and called San Fransisco either, Frisco or The City. Of course my terminology is heavily mixed with dude and hella, that way everyone around me knows I'm a NorCal native. If someone tells a ridiculous lie, just respond with, hella! If there's really bad traffic, there's hella traffic. Hella cool, hella hot for example. Hella equals hell of a lot and no way or yeah right. Now you'll hella fit right in with all dudes brah. No brah is the one word no one says here.

Just joined, because the wife is talking about possibly moving to Cali within next year. I will continue to do the reading and research myself to understand what is necessary. I have a Glock22 (guess I cant bring my 22rd and 15rders with me), currently building an ar, simple TNARMSCO lower, generic 6pos stock, and 20" barrel with effin a comp, then I have my Win70 .243 bolt, over under .22/.410 savage, and Ruger Mini-14. I assume I need the button for the damn AR, not sure about the mini. I hope that I dont have to sell or leave with family any of my stuff, absolutely will have a safe.
I also intend to try and get my CCW if we move (she of course wants to be near San Diego (which I hear is near impossible for CCW)
