    Web Site Currency?

I can't help but notice that so much of Calguns.net is simply not current. I see that most hyperlinks to references are dead, and that many discussion topics are closed from further posts.

How many 'administrators' are there for Calguns? Is it simply that the administrators can't keep up, or is there something else going on that I'm missing?

It's very disheartening to come to Calguns to seek information about a very complex topic only to discover that much of the information is very dated, simply wrong, or non-existent.

The list of moderators is at the bottom of the forum topic display.

What issues did you have in mind?

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

People can link to whatever they want are there are tens of thousands of such links. I've rarely if ever experienced what you are describing except with perhaps some pictures on hosting sites, and I spend a lot of time here. What do you expect mods to do - troll and test every link every day, even for posts 8 years old? If you try links from posts years gone by, then it is very possible some will not work. That is the same at every forum in the land. Penal Codes change, links to the old references die. Google can help you help yourself.

For example, many, many threads refer to examples of 'good cause' letters but very one of them fails.

I thought this was going to be yet another thread about bitcoins.

Maybe you misunderstand the function of calguns as a discussion forum. If you are disappointed about the information here, you might have dropped dead in shock trying to find the same information 15 yrs ago. Up to date changes often and fast. Check the CGF wiki for good info. Otherwise, the forum is worth what you pay for it.

                Ah.

If that is referring to the Calguns Foundation LTC info, that off-site web location for those has taken them down; nothing we can do about that. (Aside: the utility of such example letters has always been a bit spotty, and if we ever get a decision on Peruta, might be entirely un-necessary.)

Same thing is true for folks who have taken down their pictures from the host site(s) (the safe forum has a sticky on bolting down one's safe and that happened to the useful pictures in that thread); other docs get deleted from off-site locations, or moved - the owners of the hosted things get to control them.

And, as Sky.Hawk notes, nobody checks for dead links - good heavens, that would be a full time job!

There's one thread on holsters I try to get to about once a year.

Once a year?! That is simply unacceptable, I demand to speak with whoever is above Kestryll.
