    Upcoming Buybacks

After a bit of searching, I haven't been able to find any threads tracking upcoming buybacks in our state. I think it would be great if we had such a section to alert members of buybacks in different regions of the state. We can then go intercept these poor firearms before they are destroyed.

Others might view it as an opportunity to get paid to get rid of their junk. Say an old, rusted hardware store shotgun or a junky .22 that is impossible/expensive to find parts or mags for.

I have a feeling the cops would not be terribly happy if people showed up with cash in hand saying "They'll give you $50? I'll give you $100."

Now that I have my C&R I'd love to go by and I could legally just take them right there. Too bad C&R doesn't count for handguns in Cali.

I'm sure I'll be crucified for this but in a buyback in San Diego, I took a couple of old scrap rifles I had bubba'd up and turned them in. I got me a handle of Jim Beam and had a great time with that. From what I saw being turned in, it was, by and large, junk.

Recently, one of my wife's friends gave me a call and said she had a couple of rifles in storage at her house. The rifles belonged to a man now living out of state now and he wanted my wife's friend to just box them up and send them to him. Friend wanted me to come over and take a look at them. I wasn't hoping for too much and I wasn't disappointed. Both rifles were old pieces of XXit and would have been great candidates for recycling into manhole covers. I'm sure there are a few gems out there, but just like panning for gold or mining for diamonds, you have to go through a lot of garbage to get the good stuff.
