site access problem

my home has Surewest internet service.

right, now calguns.net is not accessible. but i can make this post through 216.218.212.231


my phone has AT&T service, i can access the site through the domain calguns.net


what is the problem?

my ISP? or Calguns.net's DNS?

It's up and moving quick on ATT Uverse at home and ATT LTE on my phone.
I'll check Verizon LTE as soon as my hotspot wakes up.
Verizon LTE is working and quick.

I'd guess your ISP lost or changed DNS settings

I've got Cox and noticed the same thing this morning.

When I tried Verizon LTE on my phone, it wouldn't work either.

It said "Safari could not locate server".

I was just now able to log in threw my phone but the CZee wifi here at Fort Gordon wouldn't even bring up the page for the past hour or so.

The problem is that the calguns zone is hosted by ns1.profedgehost.com
but the profedgehost.com domain has expired! (today)

Thus the root servers are returning NXDOMAIN for profedgehost.com
and this breaks any attempt to lookup www.calguns.net
Once everyone's DNS cache times out, you will only be able to access calguns via the IP address.

I have mailed the admin contact for profedgehost.com
but don't expect them to get it fixed quickly; a large zone like .com will probably not get updated more than once per day.

Today around 9 am calguns was setting off my virus protection. It's webroot, but I don't know anything else. I checked periodically for the next 3 hours getting the same response. Around noon I checked on my girlfriend's phone because we were in out of town; it wasn't letting me access the site. I just tried again on my computer, and now it's working fine.

Yes. There was a problem early this AM.

The calguns.net domain was fine, but the domain that manages the DNS servers for calguns.net, PROFEDGEHOST.COM, had expired. The latter domain was not valid.

The calguns homepage doesn't bother my virus protection, but the forums do. It was back to locking me from the page. I just turned it off for calguns.

Anyone know why this is happening? Is it calguns, or is it just my virus protection going crazy? I remember my old virus protection would block me from espn.
