It's been suggested before; makes little sense and would just be an annoyance.

No; that would just be yet another separate place for me to look. With PPT requiring FTF transfer on handguns, if there is something I truly want, or rare, I would think nothing of driving from Los Angeles to Oakland to buy it - and have. I want ALL my opportunities available to me in one place. I am not geographically hindered.

Also, then what about someone that lives in central CA - what divides north from south? And how far is too much north or too far south to be considered north/south? 50 miles? 100 miles? 400?

What defines North or South is only limited by the buyer's limitations. One's limitation is another man's opportunity.

we have north and south section on calguns in you community with sub-folder why we make same rule and regulation regarding distance or location. regarding person wish to drive certain distance that's buyer/seller discretion, most seller/buyer wish to deal with their own community or close by.

        1) The community section is intended to be geographically dependent, for more corporeal functions and gatherings outside of just the purpose of a sale of an item, where with a sale as a one-time meeting has it that geography would not be an important factor.

        2) "most seller/buyer wish to deal with their own community or close by" - Not sure where you get that idea, as you've only been here since November, but ACTUAL polls on this issue were done in the past, and MOST people wanted it left as is, all in one place. You simply saying that is what most people want based on your connotation of what is reasonable distance to travel in a gun sale, or limitations therein, doesn't make it so.

Sure, if all I was looking to buy was a pedestrian Glock, CZ, or Springfield XD, I would typically not travel much more than 20 miles. But come across a Mateba, Korth, Manurhin MR73, SIG P-210, HK-911, Randall Curtis LeMay, Wildey, Mid-1950's Winchester Model 70, American Eagle Luger or hundreds of possible others for the right price, yeah, I'll travel some 7 hours to buy it.

        MOST people would.

Or look at it from the Seller's side - a good seller will post in all the markets available to maximize exposure to his ad - because lots of people like CALI-gula exist.

So instead of reducing marketplace clutter, it would multiply the number of posts to wade through and increase the pressure on the overworked mods. Bad idea.
