    open carry while fishing

Im so lost on this issue trying to find the right answer.

    please help.

I know that open carry is Illegal now in california (lame) (/ I heard it only pertains to city limits. / Not sure...

I just want to know if I can still carry my firearm (open) on my hip while fishing along the sacramento and feather river at night. loaded or not loaded. I go by myself at night, its kinda creepy sometimes and you never know what weirdo is out there.

ok so I got an answer for my question.

I called the Sutter county sheriffs dept where i live and they said that you can open carry your firearm loaded as long as your are fishing or hunting. when you travel (walk)to your fishing location and back to your vehicle you need to unload your weapon. once you get to your vehicle u need to lock it up. Im referring to handguns by the way.... man - that was a pain in the *** - i called gun dealers , bait and tackle shops, firing ranges, everyone had a different answer...
