It would be so much easier finding things if the old stuff and sold stuff was deleted !!

And is there a way to delete our own stuff?

On another forum I belong to you can delete a thread if you're the one who started it, is that not an option here?

Why delete the sold threads? They provide a very good baseline of values and selling prices.

Once someone puts "SPF" or "SOLD" into the title what difference does it make...just don't click on it if you are not interested in the details of the completed transactions.

Old threads serve many functions for a forum. Primarily, they serve as a database of old information that comes up in searches and directs new traffic to the forum. BST threads are some of the best you can get, because a lot of people want to look up prices, values, places to buy etc and your old FS thread may come up in the search, directing someone to Calguns in the process. The bigger a forum gets, the more it helps itself in terms of SEO.

On top of that hugely important function, old threads posts serve as a paper trail for staff members to analyze your previous history if they ever need to (For instance a guy with 100 posts, all of them trolling), references for other members to compare to (prices, dates, etc) and archives of information for people to quickly go back to whether it be just to learn about a topic, research to help write a paper, whatever.

Our threads and posts are just too important to the forum's overall well being to start mass pruning all Edward Scissor-hands style. Besides, even if they are deleted, they are not gone, they are in a trash can which usually only staff can see. If deleted from there, or just lost on page XXXX, you can still drag them up via the ACP and the database. If you edit your post before hand you can stop moderators from seeing what you posted, but anyone with DB access (Legit or stolen) could technically drag up and earlier copy of that thread pre-edit.. meaning, no you cannot hide from the gubmint. The good news is, they more than likely don't care that you sold your AR15 for $1500 over retail.

Also, you can delete some posts, but I'm sure it's on a timer. For instance if you double post, rather than editing the second one (Which is pointless if you leave it there) you can click delete once you are on the edit screen. This is usually on some sort of a timer, so you can;t go back and delete a days old post or something. May not work on threads, not sure.
