    Infraction system

Can someone explain the "infraction" system that Calguns has. looks like i been "infracted" by 69Mach1. I joined in 2007 and read the rules then.

    Dear Rwhat,

You have received an infraction at Calguns.net.

    Reason: Marketplace Rules Violation
    -------
No need to post stating you sent a messsage
    -------

This infraction is worth 2 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

    All the best,
    Calguns.net

Looking back at your post in the market place http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=645539 I can only surmise that the infraction was imposed for posting a question in the thread. I think the forum rules prohibit this to prevent constant "bumping" of for sale threads. I believe forum rules require all questions be asked via pm.

No, 69Mach1 didn't see that one. He didnt like the fact that i posted "PM sent" in another add. When he see's fit he just deletes my posts but let others go. I know other fellow calgunners that he has also targeted.

I only asked the question on the thread because Blue Labels can be ordered with several options of sights and his asking price was inline with night sites. Its a pretty valid question.

        Per the Rules:

        14) Question and Inquiries about products listed in an ad.
Most questions and product inquiries can be handled via Private Messages. We expect you to use this feature for all questions and inquiries.

If you feel your question or inquiry involves a material aspect of the item being bought/sold you may post that in the thread. The term "material aspect" means one that dramatically affects the value, function, or operation of the item being bought/sold. Answers to posted material questions regarding the item may be posted in the thread prior to the expiration of the 24 hour BTT rule however the posted answer will reset the 24 hour 'timer'.

All offers other than 'I'll take it' must be made via Private Message. If you send an offer via Private Message, a post of 'offer sent' is acceptable, all other Private Message do not need verification such as 'pm sent' or 'incoming PM'.
You posted 'PM Sent' in violation of the rules.
It was deleted so you reposted it.
That was deleted so you got smartassed in the thread to the Mod.

You broke the rules, copped an attitude and got tagged for it, deal it with it.

I used extended ASCII characters a few times instead of a portion of the quoted word and got a warning ("old-ħ..." not "smartas..."), and was told that I was trying to defeat the word-filter.

Many do feel picked-on, real "bad-words" can be found all over from other posters even in other's signatures... It makes me feel that I am a lesser citizen here if I am made to be more-compliant (when I clearly wasn't even in violation as I was using extended ASCII that kind-of look like a word [done here all the time]) than someone with a higher post-count...

I don't really care about my online-rep (and wouldn't mind having this account closed, and then making a different account, as I am here for chuckling, as well as collaboration of knowledge), but when some are held to different standards than others, maybe mods need to search for the infraction in older posts to set a precedence, not apply standards specifically to new posts, and make all on an equal playing field, which discourages participation while doing what is ALWAYS done here by others...

I honestly don't understand the "no questions" rule in market place adds.
Do you think the owner/ seller really likes answering the same question through pm from 7 different prospective buyers? After the first person asks in the thread and the seller answers, that's that.

Never seen a similar rule on any other forum.
Oh well. Just my 2 cents.

As was quoted by the boss; questions of a material nature are permitted. If the seller is receiving pms about a lower price from numerous members, that is to be expected unless the seller states, "price is firm."

If the OP has sufficient info on the item being sold or traded, there really is not much of a need to send the seller a pm unless a lower price is being offered or some condition and that would be expected as I said.

If the OP is receiving multiple pms asking the same question, then he/she should edit his first post and put that info there. That should solve the problem. The next time he can bump, all he/she has to write is, "Bump, question (s) answered. If the other members have read the rules as required, they will know to check the OP for the answer (s) to their question.
