Home Page Lagging on (Some) Updates

Has anyone (besides me) noticed the home page has been lagging the last few days (at least) in terms of updating the latest thread?

It's nearly 3 am and the home page (at least through OT) shows ZERO posts from 9/9, despite there being several, including one of mine. This isn't an isolated incident.

Again, I'm not complaining. I'm just trying to be helpful.

ETA: With all that said, this post shows, but updated threads in other sections still don't. I also noticed my post count didn't increase when this posted if that helps. Also, I found a few from 9/9 on lesser used sections of the forum; but, again, nothing from OT (which has several) and nothing showing from other sections higher on the page. (My post count just updated with this update.)

Yes, I've noticed the same, and some 'signatures" for some folks don't show up until much later after posting. There are a few more oddities like avatars "stuck" on the thread but that person has moved on long ago.

      Gateway Timeout

The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

A 504 Gateway Timeout is something different than what I'm talking about. I have a series of those everyday just accessing the site or attempting to.

This is an actual lag in the site updating the content on the homepage.

I've noticed quite a bit of lag myself. especially when making a post with pictures.
doesn't seem like much of an improvement to me. feels like i'm working with a site on a dial up connection.

I'm starting to wonder if there is some runaway process (or multiple of them) that keeps dragging the server down until it crashes/reboots. When it first comes back online it's super fast for a few minutes, then gets slower, then slows to a crawl, then gateway timeout. I think when it's timing out the server is locked up in a 'crash' mode. Then it takes time for it to finally die/reboot.

This could be a software (runaway process) or hardware (cooling or chip failure) problem.
