    Please Post Pictures.

There is nothing worse than reading a title of a thread that has your dream item in it, seeing that it is in a price bracket you can afford, and then reading "email me for pictures".

You're asking us, the buyer to do all the work for you. Why should we when other sellers are offering a simular if not the same item for the same or less money and they were considerate enough to include pictures?

In todays digital age you can pick up a digital camera fairly cheaply. And with free photo hosting services like www.photobucket.com you can post your pictures online and then link to them here.

    Need help figuring out how?

Step One: Take a picture of your item.
Step Two: Transfer it to your desktop.
Step Three: Upload it to a free photo hosting service.
Step Four: Once uploaded, right click on the image, select properties, and the copy all the information in the URL section. Hint: it starts with http://
Step Five: When creating your thread click the image icon. Hint: it looks like a mountain with a sun in the sky.
Step Six: Paste the URL for your image into the text box and press ok.

There, now you have an image and people won't curse your name when they click on your ad.

This is such a major pet peeve, that many of us will not buy your item no matter how nice it sounds if you do not post a picture. We won't email you, except maybe to complain. We usually just ignore you. Then you're left wondering why nobody bought your amazing item.

By the way...this should be a sticky.

I like to see people use this option as well instead of attaching pictures which you need to click on to view and need to be signed in.

still plenty of people still forgetting to include location, too.

These two things seem pretty easy to accomplish.

I agree, it takes less than 2 minutes to snap some pics, throw them on the comp, and then host them on a free site like imageshack.

There is NOTHING easier to do than list your location. And unless you are a CIA operative or Navy SEAL, then maybe even listing it in your profile................Look above right for mine.

My favorite hosting site is http://tinypic.com

If you need to resize the pic, open it in paint. Press control-w, enter in values in the "stretch" field like 33 or 50%, depending on how much you want to shrink it. Press enter. Save the file as a .jpg on your desktop. Upload to tinypic, click in the [img] link field, paste in your post.

One of the Moderators should pin this thread...

              Thank you tacticalcity,
I have a digital camera I purchased in June that I have yet to remove from it's packaging. Your instructions will be very helpful to a computer dufass like myself. This should be a sticky... Happy Holidays to all!

This really isn't the right place for this topic. But I will say, if someone has a stock Ruger P89 (for example) for sale and they say its like new in the box, gee whiz doesn't everyone know what it looks like by now. And if not, go look at Gunsamerica or Gunbroker and look it up. Now if someone says its like new and doesn't post a pic, then shows up at the transfer place with something that looks like it s been drug behind a pick up for a mile then come back and bash the crap out of them here on the forum. But not everyone has a digital camera or the wits to post a pic. If you request a pic and they don't produce one, hmmmm, don't buy it. This needs to be moved to the comments section........

... or you could do something like this slide show if you don't want people to have to do a lot of scrolling. Just click on the thumbnail to see the show (with zoom and controls) in a new window, without leaving the current thread:

This only took about five minutes to create and include in this post.

                    And.....

                    While you are at it....

Can you post a picture of your wife as well..

At a minimum at least one in a bikini

Brownie points for those that post a pic with the wife in the shower and no foggie pictures please...

....since we are doing trading here we should include the wives as possible trading material for deals posted at this forum....

I actually do have some scruples so no trading of children in deals please. That is where we draw the line at Calguns!

                    That is my vote...

                    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

If someone doesn't want to post pictures for an item they are selling, they shouldn't have to. It's the seller's option (but benefit) to do so.

I get into the habit of posting pictures when I sell an item simply because it sells easier (there are people who won't buy something just because there isn't a picture, as you are implying).

Lots of times, having pictures is just a waste of time.

Let's say I were selling a Glock 27 with 100 rounds fired, original box and docs, and no external wear. That alone should be enough description. Why should the seller be required to post a picture? You can find pictures of Glock 27s all over the Internet.

When I sold a Mildot Master awhile back, someone actually PMed me asking me for pictures. I sent this person a link to the Mildot Master website.

Forums are basically glorified classified ads like in a newspaper. This isn't meant to be an online e-commerce store to shop. If you need to see the item you are trying to buy, you should just go to a gunstore or shop online with a commercial vendor such as Midway or Brownells.

i understand new guns not needing pics but used guns especially ones being shipped do. a good pic should show wear marks, dings, etc or lack thereof.
