Why can't Calguns have a spot in it's forums where stolen guns could be listed by police department report number, make, caliber, and serial number so that people can list what has been stolen and compare the numbers quickly rather than searching all over the forums for stolen gun threads? There are some national sites that do this but why can't we have one for California and Calguns members? Any thoughts folks?

I would be agreeable to what ever gets this list going as long as the design is simple to use and provides us with a quick easy check system as potential buyers and allows those unfortunate enough to have been theft victims for whatever reason to post stolen gun information. This could be set up like table with no area for comments thus no snide comments. Only theft victims can enter information pending approval by a moderator, the rest of us can search the database but not add anything, and if a stolen gun is found then the searcher should have a way to contact the moderator who contacts the victim/appropriate listed police department with the listed report number. Something like that could work.Comment

I think it'd be a great idea. Post everything about the firearm as possible and it may also help recover a stolen item as it would be posted online. With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

It does not make a difference if you have had a gun stolen or not if this list helps get any that are STOLEN or lost back into the hands of the rightful owner. There are thieves out there and they do steal guns. It might also bring more people into Cal Guns and maybe help educate people when they do see how many end up going out the door in thieves hands. If by some miracle gun thefts suddenly stop then close the list down but I doubt that will ever happen. This suggestion was made only in an attempt to help those who have been victims and if calguns thinks it is a bad idea then so be it.Comment
