Inconsistent Calguns Site HTTPS operation

Noticed these inconsistent Calguns site secure browsing experiences while browsing today on the sites below.

I guess you may already know of the issues but stating them here for tracking purposes.


Calguns.net

Need a better security cert for "https://www.calguns.net".

Need a better security cert for "https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/index.php".

Browsing to "https://www.calguns.net" works BUT the hand off to the forum site reverts the user's browser back to non-secure mode "http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/index.php". Need to change operation to dynamic links that send to the user to the same type of browsing as the last page.


Browsing to the forum "https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/index.php" works with issue mentioned above. However, browsing hand off to forum functions like the iTrade page (and others) reverts the user's browser back to non-secure mode because of static links. Need to change operation to dynamic links that send to the user to the same type of browsing as the last page.


Calguns.com

Secure browsing to the main page "https://www.calguns.com" shows a default GeoVario page.

Secure browsing to the forum page "https://www.calguns.com/calgunforum/index.php" returns a 404.


Calguns.org:

Secure browsing to the forum page "https://www.calguns.org" redirects the user's browser to default cgi page "https://www.calguns.org/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi". After which user's browser is redirected to a Lunarpages.com hosting site "http://www.lunarpages.com" site.


Secure browsing to the forum page "https://www.calguns.org/calgunforum/index.php" returns a 404, and also needs a better security cert.

Note that calguns.org is not the same as calguns.net or calguns.com. It is a different forum, run on a different server. It is mainly used as a backup for when the main forum hiccups on occasion. So, I don't know if there is any plan to secure the .org site.

We had to take down the https for a variety of reasons, we're going to put a real cert and more front-end hardware on to take the loads, eventually all browsing will be https.

One of these days I'd love to see how the site's designed and laid out, you're obviously running some sort of load-balancing system and sounds like you're doing SSL-Offload as well.

Even with the cert removal the defaul pages for each domain could use a little looking after. Not that people are likely to run into them often. But the indexing/crawling engines will.

ok, gotcha. It was just that you used a non-existant calguns.org URL, even forgetting about the httpS portion. It looked like you took the CGN forum link and just swapped out the .net for .com and .org. The .org forum link is not the same as the .net/.com link, it is /forum/index.php instead of /calgunforum/index.php
