Can we please bring back the minimum post requirement!!!

While this post will be overlooked & deleted ~ I would just like to know how many of you oldtimers would prefer we go back to the days when a member had to have a a minimum number of posts before being able to post in the marketplace forums.......

Just seems to me that many of our newer problems have transpired since the rule was abolished. The minimum allowed new members the opportunity to build up a standing & understand the written & unwritten rules alike.

If its just me, then there it is.......But If you feel as I do, maybe we can work on getting CG back to where she was!

I propose a 1500 post minimum before being able to buy from the classifieds.

1500 is a hell of a lot. I think that took me 9 months to get. Its an online forum, its free, but I still think maybe a few post would be ideal. But, we do have a lot of lurkers who never ever post, but are always online reading.

I think new members should have at least 50 posts before they are able to post at all.

I agree with 50 posts or a member for at least 2 months before they are able to post in the marketplace at all.

              yes please.

i like this idea. 30 posts should be the requirement for being allowed to post ads in the marketplace.

i honestly think A LOT can be done to improve the marketplace here. one of the best, most organized, and easiest to navigate marketplaces i frequent is the EE at m4carbine.net.

the rules are pretty self-explanatory and do a wonderful job.

i bolded rules that are not currently rules here in the calguns marketplace that i feel would help:

              The new procedures and rules:

              For Equipment Exchange ad posters:

You must have 30 posts, while contributing positively to this forum community, in order to start new topics in the Marketplace. Industry Professionals, Subject Matter Experts, and M4C Dealers and Manufacturers are exempt from this rule.

Include "WTB" "WTS" and/or "WTT" in your thread title. All WTS ads *must* have a price in the ad, or in the header description. You should also indicate where you are located and what methods of payment you will accept.

No auctions - list a price at which you are willing to sell, not an artificially high price in anticipation of fielding "bids" via email or PM. No links to auction sites, either.

Your ad will be locked out to all members except you - only you can post in your own ad.

Do not bump your ad until 48 hours have elapsed.

Three advertisements on the first page is the maximum allowed. Having more then three will lead to deletions, without notice - combine ads as best you can.

All items for sale should be from your personal collection. Outside dealers must come to an agreement with Site STAFF in order to sell new parts and inventory on this site.

Absolutely no group buys, unless you are a Site Sponsor, Industry Professional/SME, or have written authorization from SHIVAN or The_Katar.

Once you have sold the item you are selling or found the item you are buying, please edit your original ad and change the title. Do not post in a thread to indicate that the item has been SOLD, SOLD PENDING FUNDS, RECEIVED or otherwise. There is no reason to bring a SOLD item back to the top of the first page. Do not edit the final sale price from your ad. It is helpful for the buyer, seller and this community to know what items sold for recently, and in the past.

              For Equipment Exchange ad responders:

Use PM or email to contact the OP - you will not be able to post in their ad. The fact that you sent them a PM or email will be obvious when their inbox has new messages.

If a seller has not acknowledged attempts to contact them via both PM and email for more than 48 hours, contact SHIVAN or The_Katar.

              For all members:

Fraudulent practices or attempts to defraud another person or group will be dealt with very seriously.

1500 that would close the doors for the OP hes only got 238 and hes been here sinse 06.
Whats the gripe here people backing out of ill take it.

Time wasters, ill take all that, over the chance to snag some guys nice gun he dosent want know more and heard about this site to just sell it on, ive seen a number of noobs lately that are here to sell there guns and rifles, more the better as far as im concerned. If they back out of the deal im sure there is some one else in line who will grab the chance to get it.

Case in point not one month ago a new member was selling a LWRC M6A3 for just $1600 i wasnt the lucky one to get it but i put myself 2nd in line.

Im all for noobs selling there goods, it just makes for a bigger market in an already limited state when it comes to getting a gun you really want but it might not be on the roster. How many noobs have been selling hk45 lately, lots.

The problem with welchers is that it wastes time, which to some people equals money. I've set up deals where I've gone anywhere from Irvine to Sacramento to do a deal. If the person backed out I would have been PISSED. At the same time I've also backed out of an "I'll take it" due to financial issues that came up and communicated as much to the seller with sincere regret. It comes down to this forum being community oriented. It started small and I'm sure it was much easier to run/moderate with 5,000 members. When it hits 50,000 members but is run like it's still a tenth the size, it just turns into a free-for-all with little accountability.

Though I am neither an "oldtimer" of this board or a high post count member, but I have seen members fitting both descriptions fail to follow the simple rules in the market sections.

Jeff how can they have 50 posts to post if they cant post before they get 50 posts? JK dude. I'm just busting your chops

I believe I was on that must have x amount of posts before you can place ads in classifieds. My whole problem with someone new is they PM and say Ill take it and then you never hear from them meanwhile you tell all other interested parties you sold the item and then you never hear from the guy again. I actually had that happen to me. I ended up giving the guy a neg I trader. He emailed me back with some BS excuse of why he did not get back to me for 4 days. He tried to play it off like you didnt get my email? Havent seen the guy post since. I rather do that and nip it in the bud than have a guy running around with Ill take it on everyones posts and screwing things up. I had to play by the rules and when I dont I get banned for a while. You screw members over then you shoudl be banned for a while. if you do it over and over then you shoudl be banned forever.

You start out mentioning about "x amount of posts before you can place ads" then go right into blaming the newbies when you were the 'seller'.

This thread was started about "oldtimers" restricting the new members as being sellers, the thread complaining about the new members as buyers was last month....

I believe they just have to follow the rules and post location/price/pics/precise description.

Big problem is just flakers. First come first serve. literally
