Option to change NewPosts button behavior

I tried to reply to the "open letter suggestion thread", but is says that it's too old.

Anyhow, Can we have an option (in personal settings maybe) to change the behavior of the "NewPosts" button that shows on a thread since your last visit?

Can it be set to open in a new tab instead of reusing the existing one?

You can accomplish this result by performing the following at the end of your session: Quick Links / Mark Forums Read. After that, when you click New Posts, you will only get the new posts since the time you marked the forums as read.

      That's not the issue.
When I say open the "2nd Amend. Litigation Updates & Legal Discussion" board at :

It has 4 threads marked with a "NewPost" button. If I click on it, it will open that up in the same tab that I am in, losing the board. If the changes are multiple pages, I cannot just click back once to get back to the board.

My request is to open the NewPost link in a new tab and not the tab that it is located in.

In the above example, it would open 4 new tabs.

Right click on any link and select "Open in a New Tab"- gonna help?

That's what I do now on my PC but for things like tablets, it would be easier to just "set it and forget it"
