From the head Janitor as to why the slow down.

I've posted about what is causing our issues, in short a conflict between the coding of the old vB 3.8 software and the newer version of MySQL. This came about when we moved to the new server when P.E. closed.

The fix is updating the forum software to vBulletin 5.7.x, something that was suppose to happen not long after we did the server move in January.

The fact that it didn't happen is entirely on me.
To make a long and whiny story short Dad passed the end of last year, step mom passed in January while working on this and I kind of got in to a whole 'who gives a s**t about anything anyway' funk.

But life goes on and things need to be done so no more funk unless it's Carl Carlton!

I've reached out to the vBulletin staff to pick up where I left off on having them do the update since it's their software. It's not free but it's not too expensive and the plausible deniability is worth it.
I'm hoping we can get this going soon because this slow stuff is irritating me too!

LOGGING IN IS AN ISSUE

Hi I was trying to log in, it would say welcome Sniper11 but wouldn't log in so I clicked forgot my password got a temporary password now I can't change my password for the life of me and it still does that with the temporary password. Why is logging in so difficult ? After posting this I scrolled up and saw I am now logged in wtf??

I click on the "remember me" and stay logged in. I don't log in and log out. It can be well over a year before something happens and I have to log in again. Perhaps staying logged in is better than frustration?

Still having issues, no threads are getting bumped when I post to them.

Also still getting database errors with every post.

Still unable to bump my own threads and never received any response from any of the admins. Additionally, my ads are are getting closed and I've had to reopen them.

Are any issues related to the use of a VPN? I have tired to figure out for myself as I have a background in IT. I have a hard time staying logged in from my iPad and also Firefox browser on my PC laptop. I turned off my VPN on my PC laptop and tried to use a private window with the Firefox browser on my PC laptop and it would not allow me to login. Using a regular window with the Firefox browser on my PC laptop, I am able to use the website with a VPN part of the time with a standard window using the Firefox browser. If the admin(s) need some client side testing done, I have 25 years experience as a IT professional doing mostly server/client and some development. I use PC and iOS devices. I can probably dig up an older Android tablet. Please PM me if I can help.
