Suggestion - Seperate Marketplace for "Shotguns"

Suggestion - Why don't "Calguns" put Shotguns in there own category
for sale, rather than under "long guns?"

Originally, there was only one firearm marketplace subforum.

It then got split into two firearm marketplace subforums, one for handguns and one for long guns.

This mirrored the CA DROS system which initially forces firearms into the "handgun" and "long gun" category.

Some people want more specific categories than that...

i.e. "handgun, pistol", "handgun, revolver", "long gun, rifle", "long gun, shotgun"

... but, others argue that doing so will be too complicated for people, since they still consistently post items in the wrong subforums (handguns in long gun subforum and long guns in handgun subforum).

Add all that to the proposed marketplace split up into regions and it will create multiple subforums (go from 2 to 12), that may cause confusion as to where to post what for some people. Counter to that is if people can't post ads in the correct subforum, then they shouldn't be posting at all.

I’d rather people have to pay a donation to cal guns before they can buy or sell!

Better accountability if you had to pay pal or Venmo $10 to cal tuns as a donation.

Sellers or WTB would know if the other party had made a valid donation

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Or just be required to be a CG contributor (annual is $20) if you want to post in the marketplace.

Use advanced search and search just the long gun section for the word shotgun.

And if the sellers put their city/county in their listings it could be searched on.

            Also a good idea

Good idea, but some posters don't know how to market their items and leave words like "shotgun" out of the post and may only use the Brand & Model (like Remington 870).

            ==================================

Perhaps in the next iteration of Calguns, when creating a for sale thread in the Long Gun or Handgun section, there could be a series of drop down boxes used for all the attributes and Calguns "required" information.

All drop downs would have to be used, in order for the post to be submitted.

This could help standardize the way both the post and post title appear, which might make it easier to review posts.

Presumably, select-able search criteria could be made that mirrors the drop down boxes.

The asking price would always appear in the same place, so you don't have to hunt for the price that has been put between misaligned photos.

We can't help those that can't help themselves (like those that post in the wrong place), but we can standardize both the required/displayed information.

People will still make mistakes, but we could try and minimize them.

Edit: The attributes could also be used to determine which sub-folder is used for the post.

                  "Too complicated for some people"???

If that's too complicated for some people, what makes anyone think that the seller isn't an idiot?

                  Not a bad idea.

An even better idea. Less than $2 per month. I just do not see the issue.

If sellers can't follow simple rules, why should they be allowed to sell?
