The subject of splitting the Marketplace has come up frequently with some solid reasons for and against it being presented. I've always been somewhat against it for several reasons.
It adds to 'forum spread', we have a lot of subforums already and this would add more. More work to moderate due to what are essentially duplicate forums. Where do you draw the lines?
As time has gone on and the marketplace has grown in popularity I'm finding myself leaning a bit more towards the split. California is a huge State and with so much traffic narrowing by location would make it easier on buyers and sellers to narrow down what they are looking for.
As for the lines I have an idea on that after some playing around on a map of the Counties. There will never be a split everyone will like so trying to find one is a fools errand, if it were to happen we'd just have to pick a set of boundaries and go with it.
This is my initial thought for a NorCal/CentralCal/SoCal split, if we did it this would seem to be pretty geographically equitable.

. At least a stern warning to not toy with forum members’ emotions like that?
