Splitting the Handguns for sale board into Roster and Non-Roster?

I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s time to split the handguns for sale board into on-roster and off-roster sales. The off roster sales have become mostly speculation now, later generations of handguns that we can’t buy and many (like me) have no interest in over-paying for. And obviously there are a lot of problems there aside from just speculation. There seem to be a steady stream of very new handguns showing up the last year and there is only one way that’s going to happen. Some are okay with that, I’ve got mixed feelings about it.

I sincerely hope that the Supreme Court is going to take the case and the Roster gets tossed out but until that time (hopefully) maybe it’s time to corral the off roster transactions, certainly for semi-autos...(to make it easier to sort out the on and off roster guns - it doesn’t always get mentioned in the title)

Makes no sense, it's already tough to beat out most others to purchase one of these, or any other good or fair deal on a HG.

This would make it even tougher for regular joe's (none full time CG viewers)

agree. And also let's segregate into sub forums for location, because I can't be bothered to search threads for details like where the gun is located.

In fact, as a father of young kids and a job, I can;t really drive more than 30 minutes from my local area to complete a transaction, so I demand broken up sub forums by regional areas about 30 minutes by car wide.

In fact, that might be a little selfish, some others may be even more impacted. So we should have a sub forum for every single city in california so that I know exactly where the gun is located when I see the gun type in the title.

Each city sub forum would then have the roster/non roster subforum.

I also suggest adding an archive subforum for ads that are older than 3 months and still active, to prevent the 9000 people from bumping their threads so much, making it impossible to browse rather than search for what I want.

This would have to be done via permutation under each city thread.so, city, then roster, then archive/non archive, then non roster with archive and non archive. For each city in california.

I think this is just the ticket to prevent the need for me to have to search, click in threads, and you know, like, read and stuff to find what I'm looking for.

Wait, does that sound ridiculous to anyone?

Why would we corral the off roster guns again - because you don't like the prices? Do I have that right?

And if that is the case, then why not just call the new subforums 'overpriced per Frank', 'just right price per Frank'? What does the roster have to do with it?

If the off roster guns were selling for free state prices you would never had made this thread. But because they are 'over priced' you are butt hurt about it.

And there is more than one way they are being offered for sale, at least three or four or five. Should a guy not be able to move to CA with guns? Or just never be able to sell them if he wants to? Or should he be price controlled when he sells them? Which of those socialist schemes would make you happy? Should a guy whose dad or granddad died in Texas never be able to sell some of the collection that was willed to him, because there is some new Glock 48 in it?

I get it - the roster sucks, but plenty of people are thankful they can find and buy off roster guns. And sure there are some LE who take advantage but they are few and far between, and some of them are getting busted for it. Most of the off roster guns for sale here are not being sold by LE.

This is just another whiner thread about prices. And about a week overdue considering its been two weeks since the last one.

There is more of an arbitrage buyer or speculator type of buyer interested in the off roster guns to flip them or whatever. I’d never pay more than MSRP for a gun. Some us us just don’t want to swim in those sharky waters. Some guys do.

It’s a suggestion. I doubt it would be implemented but that article got me thinking about it
LOL - so anyone buying Colt Pythons or old Smiths, or Singer 1911s, or old Colt SAAs, - is 'swimming in sharky waters' because it is a speculative market and the prices are now over retail?

Even in free states, brand new guns are frequently offered for way over retail. Here is an $899 MSRP gun just announced asking $3000 https://www.gunbroker.com/item/796742057

Supply and demand is alive and well, and we should all be thankful for it. The alternative is Venezuela.

Did I sound even a little bit “Butt Hurt” over this? It was a suggestion, nothing more. Nice rants though...splitting a board is not without precedent, hand guns and long guns were at one time the same

Everyone always couches their off roster pricing butt hurt as a 'suggestion'.

But yeah, we'll go with 'suggestion'.

I like the break down by city.

But I would like to go a bit further.

By city, divided into guns Mike wants, guns Mkke kjnda wants and guns Mike will take if they are great deal. Let's say, less than 5% of retail.

Now that I am finished being a smart ***.

I like the way it is now. Reminds me of an estate sale.

Some really cool stuff, but way out of my price range.
So really cool stuff that is keeping my wallet empty.

And of course, same old stuff which doesn't get my attention.
I only want one glock 19..
