    Warrant Canary

I suggest Calguns add a Warrant Canary to the website. In case they are forced to submit to a secret subpoena, they would have a legal way to alert users that their privacy has been compromised.

Many other popular sites have one, such as: Adobe, Tumblr, Reddit, etc.

You should assume everything entered here is viewed and/or recorded for later use by several state and fed agencies.

        How would that be legal?

Not dead, they just stopped going around to all the canarys and reporting their status because of how complicated some of them have become and how many there are.

However the concept of Warrant Canarys is not dead. I linked to that website to give an explanation as to how the idea works. This may be easier to understand: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrant_canary

Because it's passive. They are not announcing that they provided information to the government, they are simply no longer stating that they don't give information to the government. They are removing something from their site not adding it. The government can legally force a company to stay silent but they can't force them to lie. Keeping a false statement on their website would be a lie.

              It's a loophole but a legal one.

From what I understand those are subpoenas for individuals regarding specific cases and they obviously weren't secret if Calguns mentioned them. The type of subpoenas that Warrant Canarys are used to alert to are the collecting of mass data of all users and the government orders the company not to disclose. Such as this:

Think mass surveillance is just the wheelhouse of agencies like the NSA? Think again. One of the biggest concerns to come from the revelations about the NSA’s bulk collection of the phone records of millions of innocent Americans was that law enforcement agencies might be doing the same thing. It...
