Thank you for the link to the Constitution of the USA. Please consider a similar link to the Declaration of Independence. The USA was conceived in the notion that government exists to protect our rights, not to limit or abrogate them. The Declaration of Independence boldly, elegantly and unequivically states this essential concept. Our unalienable Rights existed even before the Constitution cataloged them. There is no clearer example of the pursuit of life and liberty than the ability to protect oneself and others from criminal depredation. As a gun owner in a state where the government continually seeks to restrict my right to protect myself I always find the Declaration of Independence to be a source of inspiration and encouragement.

The Declaration of Independence is an amazing document:
It should be read by every student in every school at least once per year.
Instead, it's pretty much a forgotten document in today's curricula.
Another indication of how much we've lost.People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
