Reporting SPAM threads without opening thread

We're getting so many spam threads these days, but by hovering your mouse pointer over the thread title in the subforum (in Mozilla at least), you can read the first few words and decide whether to waste your time and risk downloading a tracking .jpg into your computer.

Is there a way we can report spam threads to the moderators without opening the thread?

Open it, report it and mark it reported so 50 other people don't report the same thing.

Yeah, Spam is an issue that certainly becomes a burden on Moderators. I am sure like us, they have BETTER things to do.......

How about a second WEBSITE that's not linked to this Site? You wanna Join Cal Guns and begin posting? Fine. Just go to:

Kestryll_Admission_Certificate_Number.Com and:

1. Take a read of the Rules.
2. Pass a simple multiple choice test on the Rules (market place as well)
3. Pass the simple test and choose a Handle.
4. Click the Admission Button, an email is sent to you.
5. Verify your email by clicking and
6. You're a Certified Member

Done deal.

edit. You could also EARN a Number and have to enter that number to Register on CalGuns.

We all do this we we Register on other sites.

Mods have their valuable time back and we don't waste ours on garbage.

Changing the question on the question on answer at sign up will mess up with their scripts and cut down on spammers for a little bit, until they update the scripts. Do it often enough and the spammers may move on too other forums.

A little more man power but more effective, change to moderate users on first post. It will require mods to approve new users' first posts, maybe they can be encouraged to do an introduction post. This can easily be done within vbulletin.

What this will do is the spammers will eventually move on, usually quickly, since the forum won't be an "auto approve" anymore. The feature could be easily put back to normal, and be reenabled as needed.

I still say charging a one time fee of $5 to post will cut down on the spam. And if a user spams the posting rights of the Userid is revoked and the rest of us will appreciate the donation.

I sure get more than $5 worth of info amd entertainment here.
