How about a hard line "thread crapping" policy

I kinda like AKFILES stance except for their perma-ban. I'd support a one week ban from Calguns for thread crappers.

    Any thoughts?

    I think that's a tad harsh

AK files had some really bad issues with it. We have some here and there, and it's usually take care of with a deleted post or two.

There has been some lag getting stuff done by the mods, but that could be because of the holidays and less time spent on Calguns.

That and I don't think people report posts to catch a mod'ss attention like they should, the just complain in the thread or other threads.

I think that is likely the biggest issue
Ive reported a few thread craps on sale adds in the last week and each one was dealt with in less then 5 minutes

Am I the only one who thinks a certain amount of thread crapping should be allowed?

No, not the "That gun sucks....anyone who buys is lame" posts.

But the people who are asking over the top prices. Its a free market and people can ask whatever they like but I would love to be able to warn people that (x firearm) could be found at X for a few hundred less without being called a "thread crapper".

If a store was doing this people would be bashing them.... why do we give individuals amnesty? I think people doing this should have to get a little crap over it.

            Just my 2cents.

You wouldn't go into one of those stores that charge a higher price then you think is fair and tell all there customers to go somewhere else would you ?

I agree with you. This isn't a store, it's a forum of people. We give people advise all the time. Why not be able to warn the unsuspecting or uneducated buyer that he is about to get taken to the cleaners? I don't think it should be done in the sponsors area (since they are like storefronts), but someone trying to hock a OLL for $600?

I think there should be some exceptions, for example if someone is selling foreign knock off mags as mil spec, they should be called out.

I'll add my $.02 to BONECUTTER's, for a total of $.04. I, too would like to be able to add my perspective to others WTB's, and to have theirs added to mine. I feel that it would level the playing field a bit and help foster a sense of community.

If someone isn't willing to do the research into what they are buying that is their fault. If someone overpays for an item, they should have done research on the market value. If someone overpays for an item, only they are to blame.

If someone was willing to pay $400,000 for your only AR15 rifle, would you sell it to them for that price? I sure as hell would. Products sell only for what someone is willing to pay for that item.

We do not regulate the pricing of what is offered for sale nor do we allow thread crapping.

Who decide a vendor is charging too much?
Who sets what is an 'acceptable' price?
If someone is charging more then you think something is worth, start a business selling for less. If you can remain open and profitable either the prevailing prices will drop or you'll go under and then know why item 'X' costs what it does.
While the rules say 'No thread crapping' they say nothing about offering the same item in your own thread for cheaper.

Simply put, if it's too high, don't buy it.
If someone chooses to buy it, they are an adult capable of making their own decision and living with the consequence.
We provide the venue, you provide the research and wisdom.
If enough people 'vote' by not buying then either the price will drop or a new vendor will come in to fill the gap.
And as always the bottom line is Caveat Emptor.
