    Auto Log Out

May I suggest that Calguns cease logging out users out after x number of minutes? I can't even type a message of moderate length without Calguns logging me out in the time it takes to form that response. As such, I've lost a number of messages. It is very inconvenient, nearly a deal breaker, and I can't fathom any justification for it. This is the only forum I've encountered that has such an aggressive log-out timer.

I wonder how much conversation has been lost as people lose their motivation to share their thoughts after losing a lengthy message the first time to this feature.

I'm never logged out after X minutes. maybe check your browser settings, clear your cookies, etc?

Whoa, interesting results. This happens to me on 3 computers AND my phone. No other forums logs me out on those same devices. Based on that, I ruled out browser settings, but it seems like I made a mistake. I will investigate. Maybe every computer has the same settings. Sounds like a cookie issue.

EDIT: I checked the settings on this computer and confirmed that there ought to be no security settings causing the behavior I am experiencing. This is strange!

Do you choose the "remember me" box when signing in?

I haven't been automatically logged out since I started using it.
          Sorry, not sorry.

            ^^

That has been my experience as well.

I used to (somewhat randomly) be logged out while at work, but since I started checking the "remember me" box, I haven't had the issue.

I've been logged out while drafting post too... but it always posts as soon as I log in... iow, I type the post, click submit, get the log in screen (since I was logged off), log in and once the page loads my post is in the thread.

Does it not work that way for you?

Woah! I always get logged out no matter where I am too beside my phone. I thought it was just the CGN website's setting.

"remember me" is always checked and my information is default filled in, but I get re-directed to the log in screen every 10-15 minutes or so of inactivity. My passwords are browser saved, using Chrome.

My phone just prompts me to log in when I want to upload pictures.

This is how it works for me when I get auto logged off. Yeah, you can still post, but it really is irritating. Happens to me no matter what browser I'm using, or whether or not I've got "remember me" checked. I've tried it with cookies on, cookies off, cookies are auto cleared when the browser is closed, so that shouldn't be an issue, but it still happens. Sometimes an hour or 2 of inactivity, sometimes 5 minutes.

For those of you posting "check your settings", how about posting or PM'ing the settings that work for you as a reference for us problem children.

That used to happen to me also, but after a while it stopped happening.
I think it happened once this year.
And I don't think it happened last year at all.

Unfortunately, no. If I log in after attempting to submit a post, it directs me back to the reply box, which is now empty.

OK, I feel silly. I am certain I tried clicking that box early on, while trying to defeat the auto log-off problem. But, I tried it again just now and I haven't been logged off in a few hours on this particular computer.

I swear I am computer literate.

Never happened to me yet...I am always brought back to the CG homepage already logged in each time I type in the web address.
