In the lower border of the text box is a bunch of dots close together. Grab it with your mouse (a finger on a phone?) and drag downward. Voila! The text box will expand.

Does not work on my iPad. Absolute scat-show. I can't even believe someone thought programming it this way was a good idea. They have turned a discussion forum into Facebook Lite. It is unbelievably stupid. There is *quite literally* no room for intelligent discussion anymore. But at least I can give a cool emoji feedback on someone's post, so there's that
