The behavior of the site reminds me of the old free websites with throttled bandwidth. Way back in the early 90s. When you reached your daily limit, they cut you off and your page would not load for your visitors. Then after a set period the clock would reset and you could get traffic again. Makes me wonder if the host here is doing something similar.

This often happens when copy/pasting text from another source; e.g., the text isn't compatible with the software the site is now using.

It also happens when the site is about to or has 'checked out' while you were putting the post together.

There are, likely, a number of reasons; but, suffice to say you are far from alone or unique. It's just something we all have to deal with to one degree or another. (In fact, I just got an error message when posting this.)

First time able to log into Calguns in the past 4 days! At night, I get the dreaded Gateway Error.

Generally speaking, it seems to go down just after 5.00pm. It seems to stay off line for about 8 to 9 hours after that.

For me it comes up about 8pm and it dies around 7am

It's better now than it has been in over a year. I'm still getting that odd, "You're not authorized to view this post" error occasionally, but, it goes away when I hit the back arrow button.
