    Less Wasted Space Please

Not everybody has 40" diagonal 8 megapixel displays. The new layout has >50% dead space. Is there any way to increase the information density on
the page? "Space saving mode" or something? It is almost unusable on a small screen laptop.
What about the 19th? Can the Commerce Clause be used to make it illegal for voting women to buy shoes from another state?

Yeah, my screen's only 36" and I can't see ****. Just 10 items per page. Is that layout optimized for cellphone viewing??

Like the OP said: "Less air, more content, please!"

      Thanks!

That's my main complaint too. All the space makes it confusing to follow through replies in a thread.

Why not get rid of these stupid facebook and twitter buttons under our names? That would shrink down the post space by about 30% from the looks of it. We don't need that anti-gun censorship crap on our site.

I post mostly from either a 27in iMac, or a 15 inch Macbook pro and there is a lot of extra space on the sides, probably 50% is extra.
But I have seen this more and more with lots of webpages, as most are now formatted to look best on tiny smart phone screens.

                Agreed.

                Too much blank space.

On my very large office monitor, there is 1/3 completely empty on the left and right, with the substance taking up only the middle 1/3. It's OK to read without changing settings, but 2/3 of the display is just blank.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. It was also much better seeing more than just fifteen or so thread titles on the forum pages. I'd rather be able to scroll through a page that has a hundred threads shown, than click through multiple pages.
                    Yeah.

                    I'm pissed.

I wonder if the "open space" will be cluttered with Vendor Ads at some point? Talk about distraction!

There is plenty of room to the right of the Calguns logo and to the left of the Subscribe button. There could be ads in those locations. What is completely missing is any sort of respect for screen area constraints and reading density concerns. It is as if the page designers decided to discard 150 years of time and motion efficiency studies, and a few thousand years of text conventions.

I have had to fight this sort of fight before with a British web page designer, and he exclaimed "You want it to look like a 1980s car park!", to which I said "Yes, and not like some fruit salad vomit.". No more ads are needed, but we could use 2X as much information/text per square inch. In this thread, something like 80% of the window area is blank. Call it "Diet Calguns" or something.
Given a chance, Microsoft will use this design theme. I call it "Giant Windows of Nothing" layout.

Agree completely. Way to much white space. Us boomers don't need all that 'safe' space Zooming out only makes the text unreadably small, with just as much white space.
Maybe there is a server setting???
