Click on your username at top right, go to user settings, then look at bottom left and there is a menu option to change theme color. -

i can see better with dark mode (compare to cool blue). it makes it easy to see the separation for each forum but i just wish there's a way to increase the size of the font.Comment

I switched to the "Denim" mode, which is a light gray, navy blue, and dark orange combination. It makes the forum overall less "bright", but still maintains enough contrast to see the forum options. For example, the forum icons are in dark orange, which helps them stand out. I went through all of the 12+ options on the list to see which one suited me the best and Denim is the one I settled on.
Edited: After browsing for longer, I ended up deciding on "Wood", which is very similar to "Denim". I found out by trial and error that "Denim" causes the fonts to be in serif, which is really hard to read, and the "Wood" theme font is sans serif. "Wood" still offers a less "bright" experience and has green and orange highlights. I use dark mode on my phone and a dark mode web extension on my PC. They work perfectly.Comment

Some of the text on dark mode is black on black so I have to switch back to cool blue to be able to read.Comment

I switched to the wood mode and that provides some relief of the white and is a bit easier on my eyes.

I hate bright backgrounds, don't like to see my eye floaters that much. So Dark Reader works as a plug in on Firefox for me and "dark modes" most all web pages automatically. And it can be switched off if you suspect you are not seeing something. I usually do so when filling out important forms.
