I'm reminded of another forum that we had here in Socal. It was by far the best for that particular area of interest. The forum was active for many years. However, technical issues arose, and the owner of the forum was not quick to resolve the problem. The situation went on for a while, maybe a couple months. Eventually the owner got everything resolved. By then, everyone moved on, and the forum never recovered. It was the end of an era.
I don't pretend to be know anything about the inner workings, the economics, or the politics of Calguns. With my limited knowledge, I try to imagine why it would take so long to move the domain to another host. After all, upgrades and modifications happen across the internet every single day. One possibility, is that there are negotiations underway to transition Calguns to a company specialized in running forums. VerticalScope is one such company that has absorbed a LOT of forums. They seem to do a good job of maintaining functionality and reliability. I'm not a gambling man, but if I had to bet...Comment

Patiently waiting for Kes to give us all another update but I know he is taking care of his family stuff right now so he has more important matters on his hands right now, still good to see many of us are still actively using the forum even with the slowdowns

I did a tracert on my Windows computer and the route timed out at 99.82.176.54 which is identified as an Amazon server located in Virginia. Could this be the bottleneck?Comment
