    Looking for info: Sacramemto area.

If you have organized a shoot or meet up in the past tell me how you went about it. Was insurance or permits required?

Im looking to try and help organize a shoot or a simple meet to get to know more of the people in my area.

Sad that the Cordova shooting center is closed, where does everyone go to shoot now? I usually make the drive out to spenceville.

You can setup an event at The Gun Range, IIRC.

We've done events at The Gun Range before. No insurance or anything special. Just get a group of guys to agree to go and set a date. But be realistic. If 30 people say they are interested and ten confirm they are going, maybe 5 or 6 will show up. The events I went to were usually about 6-12 guys

Also on occasion range clean ups at Sly Park are organized and the guys shoot after they are done.

By the way OP, an event at Spenceville would almost guarantee to have low numbers. Many people here do not care for that range. You might get something together at The Gun Range or Sacramento Gun Club. Even better if you could organize something for Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

I am looking at options and will visit a few "local" ranges. I am most interested in the sly park range and will go check that out this weekend. (IDK how it will be with all these fires rite now)

I've organized many Calguns shoots in Sacramento. We used to do them monthly. All you really need to do is announce it here in the Sacramento Forum, saying who/what/where/when/why and how to recognize the gathering point. It's polite to tell the range what you're doing, they're happy to cooperate.

I'm not an attorney, but my experience is that if you use an actual commercial range, the range's insurance will cover the shoot, since "it's only a bunch of friends meeting up to shoot".

People will rsvp to your post, but it's not totally necessary.

We used to do New Year's Morning shoots at 9am on New Years Day, and brag about separating the real shooters from the "wanna-bees". People loved it.

I would not want to be responsible for a private shoot on BLM land, for instance, because you could be held liable. So use a commercial range. Sac Valley welcomed us, as did The Gun Range in North Highlands. The Gun Range was particularly tickled by the New Year's Morning Shoot....

If you want to hold an official Calguns Shoot, PM PennysDad, here on Calguns, he'll tell you all about it.
