Been a while since I've been on this site but I'm going to see what they have in that store. Apologize for the unnecessary bump but this is good stuff. -

In case you didn't know this, the Bay Area communities have often given vagrant one-way bus tickets to Motown & Turlock, warmer climate, more soup kitchens. The population density is not as thick out here. I'm sure with the 10 million people in The Pit, there's no homeless or thieves causing any trouble. I'm from Freekmont and bailed in '77. If it wasn't for living in Ripon, I'd be outta Kali. PAXLast edited by echo1; 02-24-2015, 11:22 PM.Leave a comment:

HEADS UP CAMPERS NEAR MODESTO
Anybody around Modesto? Out on Hwy 132 towards Waterford, there's a thrift store on your north, before you cross the tracks at Santa Fe. They must have bought out some dicontinued sports gear from Wally World. They have quite a few of thier branded tents, sleeping bags and other stuff. More than a few "backpacker" 2 man tents ($12), and a bunch of 4 man ($20). Yes they are cheap, but the backpackers had a good fly, were relatively light, and like most 2 man tents, perfect for a soloist. You'd have to baby the zipper, and cut a ground sheet made out of a heavy plastic (like plastic that cover a new matress), I'd bet you could get a few trips or even a few seasons out of them. The floors are made out of the same stuff as Harbor Freight plastic tarps, and do have a little riser up the tent walls, "D" style door.
I know I'll get the usual flame "buy good (exspensive) one time" and be done with it BS, but the hundred$ saved could buy filtration or ammo, for those on a limited budget. I almost bought them all, and I still might, but I've got a mess of tents now. PAXTags: None
