This write-up has circulated virulently online. It has become a thing of golden value in the gun community, as it is written by a "Burned Out LEO", as he calls himself. I love it because it gave me a formula for when to bluff/ when to draw/when to shoot. (I'm a concealed carrier in the great state of Nevada.) It examines the psychology and social construction of the armed robber. I think I'm way more likely to be confronted by this unsavory character than I am by a serial killer or serial rapist (though a hold up man may also commit these crimes).
The piece was actually a post on ar15.com, and it generated 30 pages of discussion. Much of it is "yes, he's giving good advice because it worked for me" or "I've encountered hold up men and here's what happened" - all of which I find interesting and useful. Read it. Then read it again. Then call up your little sisters and make them sit and listen as you read it to them. I did. It was too good not to. I'll be excited to hear from you to see what you think!
