    VC area - Anyone hiring?

Does anyone out there in the VC area own, run or otherwise work for a company currently hiring or hiring in the near future?

Specifically looking for something in the automotive or heavy equipment industry, but something IT is also a possibility.

Disclaimer: I'm testing the waters. I need to see what opportunities exist back home. I'm not currently in a position to move back to CA immediately, but I'm getting closer to that reality every day.

Any leads, help or information is appreciated. Thanks.

VC is dying if not already dead. Has been on the down slope since Martin V. Smith pulled up stakes in the early 1990's.

$1.2 million for a house is beyond anyone's financial reach without being in the upper 1% income bracket. Any job you can find in IT or mechanical/automotive will not pay enough over your lifetime to buy a house here. (1.2 million financed over 30 years is approximately 3.6 million or more at today's interest rates. Gross income at 60K per year for 30 years is 1.8 million before taxes. Even doubling the gross then subtracting personal expenses/costs you don't get there and no mechanic is going to make more than $120K here. Do the math.)

On the other hand, if you're illegal or homeless you can get free accommodations in a $1.2 million home. Paid for by new taxes on individuals reporting incomes of more than $1 per year.

So, do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and reconsider your plans to relocate here.

Helpful hint: Columbus Ga. Moderately large with good economic base as a military and financial sector hub. Decent prospects for both IT and mechanic work. Moderate weather - too far north for gulf coast humidity, too far south for heavy snow, and other than once, most hurricanes and tornados track elsewhere. Median home price = $180K. Look north toward LaGrange if you want out of the city. Don't go south. Heat, humidity and the Okie Fenoke are thataway. Atlanta is over an hour away to the northeast.

Disclaimer: I'm currently actively looking for RE investment properties in East Columbus so I might be a bit biased in outlook.

    Some random thoughts:

Somebody's gotta be the mole so it might as well be me. Seems to be working so far.

Evil doesn't only come in black.

Life is like a discount bakery. Usually everything is just what you ordered. But, occasionally you come face to face with an unexpected fruitcake. Surprise!

Rplaw is correct. Illegals are getting no to low income brand new rental houses in Camarillo for peanuts.
