They way I bought mine was by calling proforce and telling them both model I was looking for. They provided me with the serial number and set it aside. I then had my chief sign a letter stating the PC section for LEO owning an assault weapon, make, model, serial number and caliber. I brought said letter to store and paid for and brought home new rifle. Proforce provided me with the paperwork to fill out and send to the DOJ for the AW registration.

You are looking for a dealer with the assault weapon license on top of the normal FFL. Many have it.

I believe the answer is yes.

You can, the question is why would you? With a letter you can buy any make/model you want. Once its registered as a RAW, its always a RAW. You cant go back to a BB configuration, for sales to non LEO that is.
              They gave, so we have.

Assuming it isn't banned by make/model this post:

seems to indicate you can go back to a BB configuration in the future.

Interesting. Did not known that. But as stated at the end of the post, "Gawd kills a kitten everytime someone deregisters a California AW". So why would one do that!
