I think that this is the best forum to ask my question. I just purchased a Canik MC9LS. The serial number is part of the grip module. All of the internal metal parts are held in with removable pins and the slide stop. If someone were to come up with a grip module, similar to what is done with Sig P365s, would that bare grip module be a firearm, even though it would not have a trigger, fire control group, barrel, firing pin, slide or any way to attach the barrel and slide? If such a bare grip module is not a firearm, what would be the consequences of an individual transferring all of the parts making up an MC9LS to such a bare grip module, if the individual resided in a free state?
