I don't think you can get a letter for private party purchase.

Did you check what the policy is if you leave the department? I've heard that some departments are following the BS opinion Brown issued, basically stating that you have to give the department your gun. If that is the case it is not a winning proposition for you, to either purchase or trade for a carbine.

According to my command I can keep it. I guess I will find out if there is any validity to it once I retire haha.

I don't know what you mean by Leo AR15, but I have a few Ar's I will trade for your pistol.

Colt preferably 6920, or a BCM only AR-15. No Bullet Button, 16.5" barrel.

Would prefer some goodies like a red dot sight, foregrip, fore-end light, etc.

I get the letter after I provide the serial number of the AR. They write the letter for the specific weapon serial number. Then I purchase the weapon as long as its on the approved list.

Must be Colt or BCM.
