    VC for security patrol vehicles

    Hello

I have a question regarding private security patrol vehicles.

Is there a VC or other code stating that security patrol vehicles must be clearly marked with SECURITY and the security companys PPO number clearly marked on the vehicle ?

    Any help would be appreciated

The correct answer is in the B&P Code.

I could only find this in the Vehicle Code: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc25279.htm

I think counties can set their own rules too though.

You are not going to find it in the VC. It's either B&P or commercial code. Check the BSIS website.

Here go to this place. http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml It has all the various codes with a search function. B&P, VC, PC each one of these codes will have a little something. Be sure to use all the various titles private security might be known as.

              CVC 25279.
              (b) (1) Vehicles owned by a private security agency and operated
by personnel who are registered with the Department of Consumer
Affairs under Article 3 (commencing with Section 7582) of Chapter
11.5 of Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code may be
equipped with a flashing amber warning light system while the vehicle
is operated on a highway, if the vehicle is in compliance with
Section 27605 and is distinctively marked with the words "PRIVATE
SECURITY" or "SECURITY PATROL" on the rear and both sides of the
vehicle in a size that is legible from a distance of not less than 50
              feet.
I'll let you look up the rest of the codes this section references.
