However, the Supreme Court appears to have long ago determined that the police (or state) have no duty to protect or defend any single individual. Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales and DeShaney v. Winnebago Cty.Comment

Why even give this person the time of day? In any event, the reason the legislation votes certain ways is because of LEO representatives are at the capitol meeting one on one advocating for their associations. If people see that as a divide, you will never be able to change their perception. This is and should not be an US vs THEM rather and us helping them attain certain rights they should be allowed to have. The tax seems to be more punitive on the public, they should be mad at Sacramento and we should be supporting their position on why it is unfair.Comment

Proforce (Brea) called to update me on an order (last week) and I asked to clarify about the 11% excise tax. I was told that this law does not apply to either current or retired LE.
I was definitely pleasantly surprised about the retired officer status being exempt.Comment

I called Turners in Fountain Valley recently about one of their Pythons they had on sale. They advised the 11% exemption only applied to active LEO. I called RifleGear and they advised retired folks were exempt but would have to complete a form at the time of purchase.Last edited by jayhuh; 08-30-2024, 5:33 PM.Comment

I purchased a handgun at Integrity Arms in Lodi,11% exemption was made ,they just use the copy of your retirement ID that you give them to purchase the gun as the proof for exemption as well.Comment

I'm anxious to see what going to happen to all the 11% Tax money that the state has collected once this law in overturned...American soldier by choice. Made in America by the Grace of God.
So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.
