    Parking Ticket Question

    Hi LEO's

I have a simple question that I get two answers from and never a straight answer. I have just got to my car which is parked on the street. I have a permit and everything to park there except for today (Thursdays) street sweeping occurred. So I received a ticket from my local PD for $38. My question is do these tickets go on your record? and if they do how long do they stay on your record?

This is my 2nd ticket I have ever received and my 1st one was also a street sweeping ticket which I got when I first parked in that area and not knowing about street sweeping.

Parking tickets do not show on your driving record.

They only mess you up if you don't pay them. If you don't pay it, you won't be able to register your vehicle until you do. Or if you have an excessive amount of unpaid tickets, 5 i believe, your car can be impounded.

I will be paying as soon as the ticket is available online.

Parking tickets don't go on your driving record because theres no way for the ticket issuer to know who was the actual driver of the vehicle. They basically give the ticket to the car, not the driver...

Back in the day, unpaid parking tickets would result in an arrest warrant for the vehicles registered owner. I still remember a guy that I had to book back in the early 80s. He had an arrest warrant for $2000 in unpaid parking tickets. Now they have decriminalized parking tickets and made it more of a civil action. No more arrest warrants.
