Central Florida, as of two and a half years ago. I felt like a Jew fleeing Nazi Germany ca 1933. I was California born and raised, but now living in exile - and I have ZERO plans of ever setting foot in that state again.

Celebrating 5 years in North Texas this month, about a 1/2 hour out of Fort Worth. Left Modesto after living in the northern San Joaquin Valley almost 40 years.

Bought house in Vegas 01/2018. Bought bed and safe day after closing.
March got DL (Real!), registered to vote and titled/registered 2 cars. June bought Sig P226 TACOPS and Gemtech gun muffler. March of this year got the muffler. October bought FN509. January bought Gemtech muffler for it. Hopefully will have it by Halloween. March this year bought Mossberg Shockwave shotgun.

June this year sold CA house and bugged out on a Saturday.

Boise, Idaho area as of November 2018. Semi-retired and a)hated the politics, b)hated the traffic, c)hated the taxes, d)hated the gun laws and e)did I say that I hated the politics. Wife and I left family behind and our opportunities to shoot Steel Challenge are "different", but the area is beautiful and life is a bit slower. People are very friendly despite the fact that the area is increasingly infested with Californians.

Showed up at the DMV last week to pick up my Enhanced CCW license. The wait for a DL was 186 minutes; the wait for a CCW request was 1 minute! Definitely a gun friendly state (Canyon County BTW). Received physical license in the mail about 10 days later.

Sagle, Idaho. Bought our place back in 2013, and made the move for good in 2016.

Born, raised, and lived in Northern California almost all my life. Had a successful IT business with employees. Wife was a hospice nurse. We just got sick of all the California crap and me working to support the state. Pulled the plug in the summer of 2016 and built a house in the Caldwell area and we retired early. First time I think I was ever ahead of the curve...

We have NO regrets. We were accepted warmly and love it here. The first several months I went nuts buying all the guns I couldn’t own in California then realized they weren’t going anywhere. I shot a season of single stack USPSA and met some really great folks.

Question: If you are looking to purchase a used firearm from a private individual in your new state, do you even really need any form of ID?
None is required by either Idaho or federal law, unless I'm buying a C&R. At that point, I need to briefly see an id for bound book info.

Just found this part of Calguns...a great idea.

I'll try to do my best with the "No mocking, insulting or taunting your fellow members who live in California" part.

We left CA in 1986 and moved to Flower Mound, TX. FM is equidistant to Dallas and Fort Worth and about 10 miles or so north of a line drawn between them. Stayed there about 15 years, leased our house on the CA coast to 3 sets of tenants with no problems. Moved back in 2000 with a plan to live there 2 years for tax reasons and then move to Idaho.

Sold that house in CA and did the move 2 years and 11 days after moving back.

Got to Idaho in June of 2002. Wife got a job with the Red Cross in Boise, and then worked for the Idaho Senate and retired this year after 11 years.

Lack of RKBA in California was down the list as reasons for moving.
