easy lawsuit to win: Walnut Creek safe storage law

In an effort to keep guns out of the wrong hands, the city will begin fining residents who are found not to be storing their firearms safely.

Under an ordinance unanimously approved Tuesday by the City Council, firearm owners who keep their weapons at home must stow them in a locked container or disable them with a safety device.

I think this WC ordinance should be a slam dunk lawsuit (and TRO/PI) for CRPA given CJ Robert’s joke during Heller’s orals (turn on my bed lamp, put on my reading glasses… vs gun being ready for immediate use in self defense in case of confrontation).

No, I am not and funds are tight, thus the request. I have spent far more time equivalent on CGN helping the fight for CA CCWs than the CRPA membership fee. Hopefully someone who knows that will step up in my place.

And then the next time your gun is stolen and used in another violent crime, you'll be fined $200? And then the next time your gun is stolen and used in another violent crime, you'll be fined $200? Does not sound like a deterrent to me, but a feel good law from the city to say the like to harass gun owners for their constituents.

Yet, how would they prove that your gun did not have a trigger lock when stolen?

A feel good do nothing law.

This would be like a law made saying you cant drink alcohol on Sundays. The only people who will get fined/caught will be those who initiate leo contact or post photos/videos of themselves with a undeniable timestamp.
