Thanks. See the article linked in my post #228 above for what I think. tl;dr there are a lot of "moving pieces", so it is difficult to predict what will happen to nat'l recip this year. IMO, even Trump's behavior or popularity may factor into what the Senate does or doesn't do. I've still got another 6.25 years on my FL CCW, so I'm good regardless. Won't have to apply with the rush should it pass this year or next (assuming antis don't gain ground in the Nov election).

Here's your video embedded. Notice how he predicts the vote won't be until Oct, the month before the elections....

When the house bill passed last year it was openly stated that this bill would not come up for a Senate vote until the Spring. I don't know why anyone is acting surprised or upset since this is still January.

Agreed. The Senate NICSFix bill is not attached to Cornyn's national reciprocity bill, and Cornyn thinks they should be considered separately. As far as I can tell, there are not enough votes to get Cornyn's (or the House) bill past a filibuster, so it isn't exactly "widely popular" in the Senate. As others have posted, McConnell is in no hurry whatsoever to get either bill to a vote, and since he hasn't even mentioned it, we don't know if that is because he has made the political calculation that it doesn't have enough votes to pass (and would be a major blow if it failed) or he just doesn't think there should be national reciprocity. Who knows.

The silence from Mitch tells us everything we need to know.

Swamp creatures have learned to play the base for support even if they never get anything.

"Elect/re-elect us and we promise to get it done NEXT TIME".

The dems gave played their minority base like that for 50 years.

Breitbart keeps the focus and heat on McConnell:

Mitch McConnell Ignores National Reciprocity for 46 Consecutive Weeks

It is January 23, 2018, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has ignored national reciprocity for 46 consecutive weeks.

Breitbart News reported that national reciprocity was introduced in the Senate on March 1, 2017, but McConnell has yet to say a word about it in public.

To recap, what are some clues that you should be concerned with the fix-NICS bill?

    (1) The first sentence after the title of the bill reads “Section 103 of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (34 U.S.C. 40901) is amended…”

    (2) Senators Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer are cosponsors in the Senate. This is a big warning sign!

    (3) It’s being rammed through, without a hearing, in a very nontransparent process, and it will be passed by attaching it to the popular concealed carry reciprocity bill which already has enough votes to pass on its own.

    (4) It spends over half a billion dollars to collect more names to include in a list of people who will never be allowed to own a firearm.

    (5) It compels administrative agencies, not just courts, to adjudicate (Away) your second amendment rights.

If so it could be the last vote for Ed Royce and Darrell Issa.

Sounds like it may get a vote right before the 2018 elections for maximum effect.

I don't expect Jones will go for this. The Dems don't expect him to win in 2020, so they'll sacrifice him and have him go hard-left. Especially on gun bills.

Focus on 2018. VOTE IN YOUR PRIMARIES. Carefully select pro-gun Republicans who can actually win elections, please.
I think any Dems in trouble will vote for it as long as it doesn't pass. Jones voting against it will ensure he's out in 2 years.

The "moving pieces" I am most concerned about are Cornyn and McConnell. McConnell will be the one who will decide if it ever hits the floor, and Cornyn may try to kill the House bill so that he can take the credit for the passage of his pet Senate bill. Further, the House bill offers the carrot of NICSFix in exchange for passage, while Cornyn wants to split the two bills, a plan that may sabotage any possibility of passage. If they are split, Democrats NICSFix for nothing and can vote against or maybe just block through filibuster, but unless they drop a filibuster of the House joined bill, they get neither. Then again, they may not care; if NICSFix doesn't pass in one form or another, it will be used as campaign fodder against Republicans.
