The NRA and GOP are a fraud

So its been almost a year that the GOP has been in control of all three branches of government and not a single gun rights bill has been signed nor gun rights SCOTUS decision handed down. I've been thinking about why that is, not the petty excuses they feed us, but fundamentally why the NRA and GOP refuse to guarantee our rights even when they have the uncontested authority to do so.

It occurred to me that if our rights were restored, completely and unequivocally, the NRA would be out of business and the GOP would lose their most successful election issue. I now realize that the whole gun rights movement is a sham intended to fail by design.

In order to support my analysis I will offer a prediction. Even though the GOP controls all three branches of government, they will fail to pass any significant gun rights legislation in the next year, CCW reciprocity, reverse AW, hicap and ammo bans, repeal of the NFA, not even repeal the suppressor ban. Then the GOP will lose control of Congress to the Dumbocrats in the midterm elections and blame them for the lack of action on gun rights legislation. While the SCOTUS never misses an opportunity to protect corporate property rights, it will fail to rule favorably on even a single important 2A issue in the next 3 years, despite firm control by a conservative majority.

You are all being played like pawns, and to prove it my prediction will be borne out in the next 3 years. When my prediction proves true, how will you justify continuing your support for the NRA and voting for the GOP while claiming to care about gun rights?

    Yep, controlled opposition.

That is all they are good at.

It will be back to the norm 2024. Hopefully they prove us wrong..

We'll see, 2018 will be interesting, fingers crossed..

Although i agree with you, they have between 1-7 years to make us believers.

    Politics is such a joke..

While I also want to see everything fixed / undone DT and Republicans inherited a metric ton of **** they have to sort thru so although it sucks, gun stuff is probably not at the top of their list. Be thankful that at least losing scotus for a generation has been averted. That alone was worth supporting NRA and electing #45

I totally agree. Judges are solely worth it aswell. Although i'm not blaming our president for any of this, he could do nothing but appoint judges and scotus picks and i'll be happy. Anything else in this climate is a bonus.

Shoot we cant even repeal 0 care by what is it? one vote?

I would imagine it would be more than one regarding any gun measure.. maybe not.

              I have to agree.

I've did some research and notice the pattern of mass shootings tends to influence the GOP among other politicians to instigate stupid gun control legislation which we all know does nothing.

              The issue is motive.

Until that simple answer goes to their head, I am not expecting much at this point. Or perhaps they know this but simply refuse to do anything about supporting the 2A. Fight fire with fire.

The republican party is the fraud. They promised the moon and delivered nothing. Actually, they delivered their "true colors" as they are on display now.

If we had a constitutional convention, do any of you think those losers would try and save the 2nd amendment when all they do is try to supress it?

ya well gun control sure does one thing, sells guns.

at least, if we are smart, we buy quality and a part or two may still be around a few generations down the road.

                  haha

Since when have Republicans "controlled" the Judicial Branch? We have the same 4 v 4 (plus 1 swing vote) that we have had for a decade. Why would you think that suddenly since Trump was elected, one of the Justices would change their mind??

Congress... once again, a poster is ignoring the filibuster. Republicans do not have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. Yes, it does still exist... this is how the GOP was able to stymie so many things during their time as the minority. The Democrats will do the same. Ryan and McConnell may be purposely holding bills at present, but to imply that there is nothing keeping these bills from passing is ridiculous.

The NRA is just another Union that makes money for the bosses. They need the constant threat of gun control to remain relevant & keep the cash coming in, much like Jessica Jackson needs racism for him to remain relevant.

^^^^THIS!!! But dont forget the Republicans are pushing all those federal judicial nominations thru at breakneck speed... thanks to the Democratically controlled Senate in 2013. The remake of the federal judiciary that is going on while the liberal left melts down over every presidential tweet is going to have an EPIC impact on the future of our country and frankly it was the only thing I knew I could count on Trump doing because the Dems and the Rinos cant really interfere.

I do have to admit watching the meltdowns on a daily basis is more fun than I expected it to be....

PS: the number of gun owners incapable of developing and maintaining a long term strategic view of the battle for the RTKBA disappoints me beyond belief.....Not enough education in the ranks.

                            NRA and CRPA

If every gun owner belonged to these groups the number of members would be enormous. If they all voted together we might be able to get rid of anti 2nd amendment representatives that are useless. Cheap insurance. Think about what that could mean! If it wasn't for these and other gun lobbies we'd be in trouble as individuals.

If I were an Anti, I would join a gun forum and try to undermine support for pro-2A organizations like the NRA and for the only major political party that supports the protection of gun rights in any meaningful capacity. Of course, I would say I was pro-gun while I was doing it . . . but I would know that the end result would be to further dismantle gun rights in America, which is, of course, the ultimate goal of every Anti.
