DOJ overrules FBI on gun sales debate, says no-fly list can be used for ban

Attorney General Loretta Lynch overruled FBI Director James B. Comey this week, saying the Obama administration does support denying firearms sales to those on terrorist watch lists and that it can be done without harming investigations.

What a great day for Big Brother if political appointees ignore the FBI's standard of "reasonable suspicion" combined with one or more specified factors, before they bar someone on the watch list from buying a firearm. Then, anonymous political appointees instead of professional FBI agents could, without any objective criteria and without due process of law, prohibit whoever they want, even entire categories of people who merely have their name on a watch list, from buying a firearm. Imagine the opportunity for abuse. There are already about 800,000 to one million people on the Terrorist Watch List and about 47,000 on the no-fly list.

Wonder how long until all firearm owners are arbitrarily put on a watch list.

I guess I didn't notice the other thread because of its explicit title.

I remember way back after 9-11 that Senator Ted Kennedy was on the
No Fly List........among other innocent people.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

These people are attempting disarmament anyway they can. The fact, that they brush off blowing terrorist investigations, tells you all you need to know. The regime is pushing their agenda over safety. And no due process means it's unconstitutional on its face.

On grounds other than firearms, even the Anti-Christian-Liberties-Union (ACLU) has sued the government over the opaque nature and lack of due process concerning the Terrorist Watch List and No-Fly list.

That is the crux of the argument, that spanked the government in Tyler v. Hillsdale County.

Tyler was once disqualified from purchasing and possessing firearms, appealed to NICS to have his record amended, but was rejected because BATFE no longer granted relief from disabilities.

Expect all tea party members to be on the no fly list.

                          IRS anyone ?
