    Legal Question

I had a person contact me who lives in CA and they want to purchase a few preban 30rd AR15 magazines off of me. Is this legal for me to do? Can I ship these to CA? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Would it be okay if they were completely disassembled and shipped as "rebuild parts"?

Welcome to the forum - You can sell them. All must be taken apart and sold as rebuild kits only. The buyer must not use these as new mags, he/she must have other mags and use parts from these to repair only.

Does'nt sound from your post that they wanted parts. Parts however are legal.

Thanks for the welcome, I spend a lot of time on other firearms websites but just came across this when I needed some CA advice. I live in NY and plan on moving to PA in the next couple of months so I'm just trying to get rid of my preban mags to buy new mags when I leave the state.

Your right it didn't sound like that. When they contacted me they asked if they could be disassembled before being shipped. I didn't know that there was a difference.

So let me get this straight: You can ship all the parts to a magazine to CA but they just can't be assembled?

Yes. They can be shipped in and used as replacement parts. However I would refer to them as rebuild parts, not "rebuild parts".

If the person has indicated that they plan to build new magazines rather than repair old ones, you may be helping them in the commission of a felony.

PS, I'm looking for working AK mag bodies if you've got some cheap.

Its' funny sometimes the thin line between legality -

I can't be sure, to my knowledge, what they would do with them upon receipt of them. Is there anyway to protect myself?

In this day and age? Don't know.

If they they have asked for them as parts from the first, I'd say it's fine.

But if they asked for mags, then parts later, I'd sell them elsewhere (or even another person in CA). I'd hate for someone in a free state to get in trouble for our stupid laws. We need friends out there, not enemies.

I'd put them up in our for sale section here as parts kits and let the sharks go at it.

I'll probably just pass on this guy then. The last thing I need is a problem from an internet deal gone wrong. Is there usually an interest in ar15 magazine rebuild parts in CA?

What would be a ball park price to set them at?

What kind of rebuild kits will you be selling? The more info the better -
