Police officer asked not to wear uniform at daughter's school

An elementary school principal in Phoenix AZ asked a Phoenix police officer not to wear his uniform when picking his daughter up from school.

So now they want Gun Free Zones to apply to Law Enforcement?

Arizona police officer asked not to wear uniform at daughter's school

Inspector Callahan asked the principal to meet him at the bike racks after school.

the police are becoming more and more a military organization in many instances.

IMO, we are in a 'police state' now and will not admit it.

heck, many of the LEA's have armored vehicles, full auto weapons, full body armor, air support, amphibious support... the list goes on. and, in many incidents, have called on the military for support.

almost EVERY LAW PASSED exempts LE and legislators...why?

Don, that has to do with the OPs article how, exactly?
Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.

not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun
Logic of the year award right here.

Police officer, OF COURSE he has a gun

Puzzzification of America. Amazing how people have lost sight of what matters in the world. Parents and schools have become so PC and so overprotective. I bet these are the same parents and principal types that want no winners or losers. Everyone gets a medal. They coddle these kids so much, the kids become ill-prepared for the realities of the world.

This is a pathetic story and parents like this sicken me.\

"they are now saying they want to turn this incident into "a teachable moment." - that is COYA mode written all over it. A "teachable moment" - that alone is some modern korny catch phrase to try to polish a poop.

This has nothing to do with the OP's article. Go vent your b.s. elsewhere. As to the article, the parents that voiced their concern most certainly have to be S.F., L.A., or S.D. transplants.

It is off topic and wrong state.

You are more likely to be shot by a policeman than a terrorist. In some places
a cop is something to fear.
