Anyone get an email from Senator Feinstein today?

I got an email from Feinstein today about the AWB, anyone else get it?

    Dear ...:

Thank you for contacting me to share your opposition to assault weapons legislation. I respect your opinion on this important issue and welcome the opportunity to provide my point of view.

Mass shootings are a serious problem in our country, and I have watched this problem get worse and worse over the 40 years I have been in public life. From the 1966 shooting rampage at the University of Texas that killed 14 people and wounded 32 others, to the Newtown massacre that killed 20 children and 6 school teachers and faculty, I have seen more and more of these killings. I have had families tell me that they no longer feel safe in a mall, in a movie theater, in their business, and in other public places, because these deadly weapons are so readily available. These assault weapons too often fall into the hands of grievance killers, juveniles, gangs, and the deranged.

I recognize that the Second Amendment provides an individual right to bear arms, but I do not believe that right is unlimited or that it precludes taking action to prevent mass shootings. Indeed, in the same Supreme Court decision that recognized the individual right to bear arms , District of Columbia v. Heller , the Court also held that this right, like other constitutional rights, is not unlimited. That is why assault weapons bans have consistently been upheld in the courts, both before and after the Heller decision. I believe regulation of these weapons is appropriate.

Once again, thank you for your letter. Although we may disagree, I appreciate hearing from you and will be mindful of your thoughts as the debate on this issue continues. If you have any additional comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dianne Feinstein

11 of those 14 were killed with a bolt-action rifle. Shouldn't that provide justification for banning them? I'm sure it does to Mrs. Feinstein.

It's a form letter. Do a search and you'll find countless threads with the same letter.

Received a clone of that last week sometime. Her staff must be busy entering in a new name and hitting the send button.

May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I am

No, but I did send her an email message saying

          Senator Feinstein.

I wanted to write and thank you for your tireless lunacy in pursuit of banning firearms.

I have managed to shut down several people who said you were only after "common sense legislation with your "Mr and Mrs American turn them in" quote, and if it were not for you leading the charge more people might have been fooled into thinking that any of the proposed laws made sense.

Thank you for your constant sabotage of gun control in the United States you old hag.

I know she will never read it, but I can at least hope some staffer reads it and maybe decides to quit, or at least has a ****ty day.

I would hope the staffer laughs his *** off and shows it around the office.

I received the same letter too when I put my name down on a list to contact our politians. I voted Democrat all my life and voted for Feinstein and Obama, but not anymore.
They were all pissed off about the semi auto bill. They just dont get it. Criminals and gangbangers wll get guns anyway they can. they dont care about any anit gun bill passed.
How come Dianne isnt getting on the bandwagon against all the killing here in Oakland? The body count goes up everyday. all they do is lip service and think their bill will pass muster and change everything. NOT!!!
More killings will occur and cant wait until the end of the year to compare body counts between, Oakland, San Jose and East Palo alto.

I received the same form letter months ago.

                My letter to Feinstein today:

                "Dear Senator,

Now that your legislation in regards to "assault" weapons has been defeated, I am asking you to reconsider your position on this subject. The clear majority of the United States Senate (and public opinion) sees no merit in your proposal. The claim that these firearms are inherently any more dangerous than ony other firearms because of their cosmetic or ergonomic features is false, as was eloquently pointed out by your opposition, Senator Grassley, in the comments before the vote on your amendment to S. 649. Senator Grassley presented facts from a federal study of the sunsetted 1994 "Assault" Weapons Ban that PROVED there was no discernable lowering of murders or crime committed by firearms in the ten years that the ban was in effect. You, on the other hand, presented NO facts to support your position, and instead appealed to raw emotion and heartache to try to sway your colleagues to your viewpoint.

Again, I ask you to reconsider your viewpoint, and refrain from presenting any such similar legislation in the future.

                Sincerely,

                ---------------"

Much too snarky. I wrote this on an engraved Crane thank you note and sent it by postal mail:

                  Dear Senator Feinstein.

I wanted to write and thank you for your tireless devotion in pursuit of banning firearms. I believe that the failure of all of the gun bills this week, including the 60-40 loss of your AWB amendment, was due to your tireless campaigning that showed American citizens how useless a gun ban would be in the effort to stop deranged killers.

If it were not for you leading the charge, more people might have been fooled into thinking that any of the proposed laws made sense. In closing, I want to thank you again for your constant sabotage of gun control in the United States, and I wish you the best on your retirement.
