Huh? Specifically which "hard core anti gunners" walked away from that vote?

My understanding (from articles on the web and AnthonyCA post) is that he pulled support for the bill at the last minute because pro-gun sections he was promised would not get voted on. From this, however, I am not insinuating anything to do with his motives.

While I respectfully disagree with your opinion on the change in the general population's position on gun control ...

It is obviously virtually impossible to measure the influence the actual influence of gun control on elections accurately. And it is also hard to define what "win" and "lose" means in national politics. The republicans have recently been very good at self-destructing, but the democrats have considerable experience with that maneuver too.

My suggestion: If the number of R's in the house increases in the November 2015 congressional election, I'll buy you a bottle of good wine; if the number of D's increases, you buy me one. If it doesn't change at all, we get together and drink both of them together. I propose a slight modification: We get a choice between David Bruce (more traditional, remember the "judgement of Paris") and Bonny Doon (more non-traditional, like making ice wine in a meat locker, or naming their banner red wine after a prison).
