    Transporting Muzzle-loaders

I hope this is the right section, but I have started getting into black powder rifles and such and I cannot find anything about how to transport them. I know the stuff how ammo and the guns must be transported in separate locked containers in this fabulous state, but how do you transport black powder rifles, percussion caps, lead balls, Pyrodex (Which i read you cannot have more than a pound of black powder, but Pyrodex is not black powder but not smokeless, so I do not know how much I can have) Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone

No such restriction. Nothing in the law states you have to do that.

You can legally transport an unloaded firearm with ammo and gun in the same container.

Muzzle loaders are just like any other firearm for transport purposes.

Not sure of the transport rules for the powder itself.

IANAL, but have been shooting the holy black for a few years. I usually just transport the BP in the original container in my kit with the patches and bullets/balls/sabots, tools, etc. CA limits you to 1# of BP stored at your home so while this is more common sense advice than legal advice, I would assume that if you have 1# or less of BP then nobody will care, as long as you have it in the original container. If you have pre-made cartridges, then prepare them for transport them like you would reloaded smokeless ammo.

Just my $.02. Anyone with more info or legal experience is welcome to refute my suggestions.

Also, Pyrodex is not classified as an explosive like BP is, so limits are the same as smokeless. I, however, use BP, not substitute.

Original BP or Pyro container, horn, or flask will be legal to transport. The gun is not considered a firearm unless a charge is in, AND the nipple is capped or pan is primed. You can transport the empty rifle, musket, shotgun, revolver, or single shot pistol as you would any firearm.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I think you meant to say "The gun isn't considered loaded".

It is a firearm regardless of if it has a charge, ball or cap in place.

Deco, you can legally carry a blackpowder revolver on the street with a loaded cylinder, and it is not considered a firearm until it is capped. Then you can be charged with illegally carrying a loaded firearm.

Muzzleloaders are not considered firearms in the legal sense otherwise.

And you're 100% sure about this? You saying that a prohibited person is allowed to have a black powder pistol /rifle/shotgun in their possession as long as its not capped?

I think California still considers them a firearm loaded or not. However as stated above they are not legally loaded until capped.
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)
