can I have a flash hider?

I'm looking at an online auction on a rifle. The seller is Indiana. Here's the description:

No reserve. Great condition Zastava Yugoslavian M72 RPK 7.62x39 Serial number 1. Nodak receiver Century gun. Adjustable RPK rear sight. Heavy finned barrel. AR-15 type flash hider. Comes with a great condition Yugo BHO 30rd magazine. I'm the second owner and haven't ever fired it, the original owner said he didn't but I can't verify it, overall very nice piece. This is from my private collection. No CA,DC,HI,NJ,NY,MA,MD sales or any other state or city that bans these rifles or magazines. Shipping is $35 insured. If your dealer requires guns to be shipped from an FFL add $25

Note: I've contacted the seller and he's agreed to sell it to me even though I live in California, simply because I've done business with him before and he trusts me. He'd be making the sale with the understanding that he'd install a bullet button on the rifle before shipping it to my FFL. He will also be shipping it with NO magazine...I told him I'll just pick up a ten-rounder someplace when the gun hysteria has died down.

My question - is the rifle legal with a bullet button, since it has a "flash hider" and pistol grip? My understanding is that it's OK to have up to two 'evil features' as long as you have a bullet button. I checked the CA-DOJ website and found no help; all it says there is which weapons ARE assault rifles (and therefore illegal), not which ones are permissible with modifications.

My understanding is that the "bullet button" makes the rifle into a "fixed magazine" model. I also don't see the Yugo/Century Arms/Nodak make or model mentioned anywhere on the list of prohibited AK-pattern rifles.

As long as the mag is blocked to ten rounds yes, should be in the center fire rifle section though

Adding a bullet button allows you to have evil features on a rifle, and many as you would like.

Correct. Have the seller add a bullet button, and you are good to go.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

make sure it is not on the list of banned by name. Look at the flowchart.

It's built on a Nodak receiver so he's good to go with a maglock and a 10 rd magazine.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have a (somewhat odd) follow-up question: What do I say if my California FFL tries to claim this is illegal? I can try telling him that I didn't find any reference to it on the lists of specifically-banned rifles and that it has a bullet button, but you know how paranoid those guys are.

For that matter, is there any "magic" wording that works when trying to get FFLs in other states to ship to your California FFL? A lot of them seem A) to have no idea what a bullet button is or B) have the notion that they can't ship anything semi-automatic in here.

Lastly, what do you guys think I should bid on such an item? I've already put in a max bid of $1000 (I fully expect the bidding to go over that), and the auction has a "buy now" price of 2k. I would prefer not to go that high and only will if this really is my last chance to get ahold of an AK-pattern before some state/federal legal "door" closes on my fingers (bullet button ban, etc).

If I'm outbid, I've thought about just letting it go and holding onto my cash in the hopes of stumbling onto an AK pattern for sale at a gun store inside California. That WOULD be simpler since that would put aside any concerns about its legality...I just don't know if I'm ever going to see one again. Even if they become easy-to-find in other states once more, California gun owners might still be snapping them up for the rest of the year because they're afraid of Senator Yee and his idiotic bill now making its way through the state Legislature.

Additionally, if I ran across one while traveling through a state like Nevada, the seller might refuse to sell it to me because he's afraid to ship it to my California FFL. The main thing is that I definitely want to pick one up sometime this year, before that stupid long-gun registry kicks in next year. I don't want the state having any more data on my gun collection than it already does, because it's just a matter of time before they pass some law which outright criminalizes possession of rifles like this. IL and NY are trying to do exactly that right now.

All I can think about is how I had a chance to buy a Romanian WASR-10 a few months ago and passed on it because $700 seemed high at the time. I am wondering if plunking down this kind of coin for an AK pattern really is the "new normal"...or if we'll see things calm down by summer after DiFi's ridiculous federal legislation goes nowhere.

            Thoughts on all this?

It's better to bounce the flash off the ceiling so as to minimize shadows...

                  have two, they're small.
make sure your ffl is good to go BEFORE IT SHIPS. some are not. he'll have to install the bb on arrival.
