Firearms prohibited in Orange County Parks

I have read somewhere that it is legal to have a firearm in your campsite with you, but then I also read on the OC Parks (O'Neil Park to be exact) that possession of firearms or weapons of any kind is prohibited. How is this legal and can someone help me make sense of all of this?

    Park rules
    for O'neill say
Possession or use of firearms or weapons is prohibited.
    County Code at http://library.municode.com/HTML/113...RT2REARGE.html says
Sec. 2-5-37. - Firearms, weapons, fireworks, replica firearms.

No person shall have any fireworks, firearms, replica firearms, air gun, paint ball gun, BB gun, slingshot or bow or hunting arrow or any weapon in his possession or in his vehicle other than in a closed trunk, storage compartment or other area separated from the passenger section of the vehicle, in any park, beach or recreational area
    It's legal.

It should be amended to exclude LTC holders.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

of which i'm not unfortunately. Seems odd that they specifically warn you about mountain lions and other dangerous critters yet give you no ability to defend yourself against them, let alone other people. I guess its back to the stone age in our parks! Spears and clubs and fire are what we get

Isn't Gene suing over something similar to this?

Bear spray is probably a really good bet against a mountain kitty.

Has the demurrer been posted here yet? If not can you post it? It's been a couple weeks and you can't access it from the court website yet. Thanks.

I don't believe it's been scanned yet as I haven't seen it yet either. Scheduled for late January IIRC. I will post it as soon as it gets scanned.

So, the way I read this..."no weapons" means you can't even have a pocket knife with you...is this correct?

My pocket knives aren't weapons, and I sure hope yours aren't either.

What's the specific reason this one wasn't filed in federal court?
The Constitution is not "the Supreme Law of the Land, except in the face of contradicting law which has not yet been overturned by the courts". It is THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND, PERIOD. You break your oath to uphold the Constitution if you don't refuse to enforce unadjudicated laws you believe are Unconstitutional.

                            It's a state pre-emption case.
